NH Hotel Group joins the World Travel & Tourism Council's Executive Committee

NH Hotel Group's Chief Executive Officer joins the WTTC's top executive body

Madrid, 30th April 2015 - Federico J. González Tejera, in his capacity as Chief Executive Officer of NH Hotel Group, is joining the Executive Committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The WTTC is the global body that defends and advocates the travel and tourism industry's contribution to the economy and society worldwide. It is one of the most powerful and influential voices in the sector as it is the forum for the chairs, presidents and CEOs of one hundred of the world's foremost travel & tourism companies.

Its Executive Committee is its highest governing body. It is made up of 30 executives from leading sector players whose mandate is to contribute to the sector's positive and sustainable development and spearhead analysis of the travel and tourism industry's economic significance and its impact at the global, regional and national levels.

Each year the WTTC organises a Global Summit that unites travel and tourism leaders from across the whole world, bringing together top representatives from the public and private sectors, from travel associations and the media to network and debate the opportunities, challenges and key issues facing and shaping the industry.

Last week Madrid played host to the 15th edition of the summit, the first held in Europe in seven years. Federico J. González Tejera spoke at the event, participating in a debate on the momentum and development of tourism triggered by technology-led disruption and reinvention. NH Hotel Group's CEO debated this timely issue alongside top executives from companies such as Hertz, Expedia, Google and Airbnb.

The Global Summit was preceded by a gala dinner at the flagship NH Collection Casino in Madrid. The event was presided by Felipe VI, King of Spain, who highlighted tourism's unquestionable role in driving growth, economic development, job creation, progress and wealth creation.

Also in Madrid, this time at the NH Collection Eurobuilding, the WTTC held its Annual Assembly and its Executive Committee held the meeting at which Federico J. González Tejera's appointment as new member was ratified.
