NH Hotel Group to propose the appointment of Taisa Markus as independent director in the upcoming shareholders meeting
MADRID, 28 APRIL 2016 - The Board of Directors of NH Hotel Group, at the recommendation of its Appointments, Remuneration and Corporate Governance Committee, resolved at a meeting to submit the appointment of Taisa Markus as independent director for shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
This addition, which will re-establish the number of board members at thirteen, reinforces the Company's commitment to transparency and best corporate governance practices by giving its stakeholders more balanced representation on its highest governing body. Taisa Markus brings deep knowledge of matters of great relevance to NH Hotel Group given her extensive track record advising enterprises in the international arena.
Taisa Markus, currently a partner of the prestigious US law firm Paul Hastings, boasts more than 30 years providing leading multinationals with corporate advisory services in a numerous countries in Europe and Latin America. Her work has been recognised with many renowned awards in the legal field. Before joining Paul Hastings, Taisa built her career as partner and legal advisor at top US law firms. Taisa is highly skilled at adapting to doing business in different multicultural environments, thanks to her extensive international experience and the fact that she speaks six languages fluently.
The Board's decision to hire Taisa will be submitted to the Company's shareholders for approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
