Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel announces a partnership with three Michelin-Starred Chef Nacho Manzano
The soon to open Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel is thrilled to announce an exclusive partnership with the three Michelin-Starred Spanish Chef, Nacho Manzano, who will be responsible for the gastronomic offer of the hotel. The story of the Chef, much like the one of Tivoli and Kopke´s brands, is intertwined with the legacy of his territory, his family, and the rich culinary heritage of his region – Asturias, in northern Spain.
Born in 1971 in a small village in Asturias - La Salgar, Nacho Manzano began working in his family's restaurant, developing a deep connection with the flavours and traditions of his homeland. He transformed Casa Marcial from a simple local restaurant and family home into one of the most acclaimed restaurants in Spain, now with an impressive three Michelin star count.
Nacho Manzano brings his unique culinary experience to the restaurants of Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia, with special emphasis on the 1638 Restaurant & Wine Bar by Nacho Manzano - where a tasting menu will celebrate haute cuisine in combination with the most awarded Kopke wines – and Boa Vista Terrace by Nacho Manzano, with a casual sharing concept and a vibrant atmosphere with panoramic views over the Douro River and the city of Porto.
“We are thrilled with this partnership that brings a truly exceptional and differentiating gastronomic proposal to our hotel and to Portugal’s North region. With this collaboration, Nacho Manzano and Tivoli Kopke will write a beautiful Portuguese story together, inspired both by the Douro region and the Asturias.”, says Francisco Viana Brito, the General Manager of Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel.
“Northern Portugal and northern Spain share, not only climate and character, but also a similar culinary essence, which I love to blend for a combined local and international appeal. Rooted in both tradition and modernity, the menus we will present are based on premium-quality ingredients, a deep culinary heritage, and a universal spirit. Not forgetting that wines will take a special role, combining the pureness of classic culinary with the elegance of Kopke wines.”, commented Nacho Manzano, Consulting chef for Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel.
Completing the hotel’s gastronomic experience, Nacho Manzano will also oversee the Meeting & Events banqueting menus, developing unique creations for special occasions like weddings or corporate events. The exclusive Kopke wine cellar, adjoining the hotel, will be another alternative to host distinct events.
Offering a timeless and luxurious atmosphere with stunning views of Porto, the exceptional 1638 Restaurant & Wine Bar by Nacho Manzano is the starting point for an amazing culinary adventure, based on the purity of each ingredient and embracing a philosophy of minimal intervention, with techniques such as steaming and low-temperature cooking that honour and enhance the ingredients’ finest qualities. The tasting menus will change every two months and will be paired with the most exquisite wines from the Douro region, including renowned Kopke Port wines and exceptional Douro DOC still wines from Quinta de São Luiz and Quinta da Boavista. The 1638 restaurant and wine bar proudly features the widest range of Kopke Ports, including some very rare and unique selections, such as the Kopke harvest 1934.
Relaxed yet characterful, Boa Vista Terrace welcomes guests throughout the day with its warm ambience but always mirroring the spirit of Nacho Manzano gastronomic concept. With an international menu that draws its roots from the Atlantic, it’s the ideal spot for a quick bite, a business lunch or dinner, or even for a casual meal with friends and family. Designed for memorable experiences, Boa Vista Terrace combines an all-day dining menu with delicious options with top-tier interior design, establishing itself as the place to dine in Porto.
With its opening next month, Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia will set a new standard for luxury hospitality in the northern region of Portugal, combining Tivoli’s heritage of timeless travel with the unique history and legacy of Kopke, the oldest Port Wine House in the world, established in 1638. Older than Douro’s demarcated region and a leader in the production of tawny and white port, the Kopke Port Wine cellar, adjoining the hotel, will be one of the most exclusive attractions, allowing guests to enjoy an immersive experience in the world of the most recognised fortified wine – port. Besides the restaurants signed by Nacho Manzano, the hotel will offer also a pool bar and the Sky Bar Kopke with unique views over Porto city, where guests will be able to enjoy exclusive Signature Port cocktails, showcasing a more relaxed way to enjoy port wine.
With a journey that dates to 1933 in Lisbon, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is well-known for its cultural heritage and genuine connection to each destination. The brand expanded from Portugal to Brazil, Qatar and China, and recently has been growing its footprint further into Europe with the first openings in Spain, Italy and Netherlands. Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia will be its ninth property in Portugal.
