Minor Hotels announces the debut of the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brand in Mexico with the Tivoli Mérida Residences
Minor Hotels, the global hotel owner and operator with more than 560 hotels in 58 countries, in Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Indian Ocean, Europe and Americas, has announced the arrival of its Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brand in Mexico for the first time, specifically in the city of Mérida, known as the White City. Scheduled for early 2027, the launch of the Tivoli Mérida Residences, made up of 69 private branded residences, that will mark the arrival of Tivoli's first project in Mexico, the third in Latin America, where the brand already has two hotels in Brazil.
This new five-star hotel will be located in the Paseo Montejo area, the main road in the city of Mérida, capital of the state of Yucatán. Famous for its colonial architecture and vibrant traditions, Mérida is a city rich in history and culture, known for its hospitality and for being the financial centre of the Yucatán Peninsula. Recently, Mérida has established itself as an important tourist destination, attracting travellers from around the world looking to explore its archaeological sites, its gastronomy and immerse themselves in its lively cultural scene.
Twenty minutes from Mérida International Airport, the property will have 69 private branded residences, a restaurant, an outdoor pool with a bar, a luxury store, a gym, a spa, gardens and a patio. The hotel is part of the Casona 333 restoration project, a beautiful residence from 1903 listed as a historical monument that has been carefully restored to host the main reception, restaurant, boulangerie, bar, piano lounge and some of the common areas, a beautiful garden and a terrace for private events.
This new development will be owned by Designia, a leading real estate developer with a deep knowledge of the Mexican southeast and operating iconic projects in the residential, commercial, industrial, tourism and mixed-use sectors.
As a pioneer in the concept of branded residences, this latest announcement reflects Minor Hotels’ continued commitment to growing in this segment by adding Tivoli Mérida Residences to the latest branded residences announced including Anantara Ubud Bali Resort and NH Collection Ras Al Khaimah Al Marjan Island Hotel & Apartments, among others.

Currently, Minor Hotels operates 18 properties in Mexico and Cuba through three of its brands – Avani, NH Collection and NH – among which are hotels such as the NH Collection Mérida Paseo Montejo, located on the same street as the future Tivoli Mérida Residences, or the Avani Cancún, the latest opening to date and which also marked the debut of a new brand in the country.
With a history that dates back to 1933 in Lisbon, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is known for its cultural heritage and genuine connection to each destination. The brand has expanded from Portugal to Brazil, Qatar and China, and has recently expanded its presence in Europe with the first openings in Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.
In 2023, the brand has celebrated its 90th anniversary, a time to recall nine decades of incredible stories, but also to proudly affirm the brand's ambitious expansion into new destinations and with new experiences full of glamour. Looking ahead, the brand plans new developments in Europe, specifically in Portugal, Spain and Italy, in the Middle East and in South America.
