Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, situated in a 13th-century cliffside Capuchin convent in one of Italy’s most popular getaway destinations, has been announced today as one of TIME’s 2024 World's Greatest Places.
To compile this list, TIME solicited nominations of places—including hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and more—from its international network of correspondents and contributors, as well as via an application process, with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences.
Following extensive renovations, Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel launched in April 2023 and invites guests to immerse in convent life amid centuries-old cloisters and in guest rooms and suites tastefully appointed with carefully restored original features. Exquisite cuisine and creative cocktails are crafted with ingredients grown in the convent garden. Expert therapists draw on local healing traditions for blissful treatments at award-winning Anantara Spa. Unique experiences include explorations of sacred sanctuary secrets with Franciscan Friar Marcus, tours of the iconic Amalfi Coast by vintage car and a sunset cruise with show-stopping views of Capri, giving guests the chance to connect more deeply with one of the “World’s Greatest Places.”
Announcing the award, General Manager Estelle Vassallo said, “We are honoured to be recognised by TIME with a place on this illustrious list. We’re committed to elevating each guest’s experience of beautiful Amalfi and our historic convent, and to be included in the World’s Greatest Places by a global media brand with such unparalleled trust and authority truly cements our efforts and dedication.”
This prestigious accolade follows the recent inclusion of Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel on the coveted 2024 Travel + Leisure IT List where the property was selected as one of the "Most Luxurious New Hotels of 2023.”
