Minor Hotels Appoints Ahmad Shaban Fernandez as Cluster General Manager for Landmark Dubai Properties
Minor Hotels is pleased to announce the appointment of Ahmad Shaban Fernandez as Cluster General Manager for NH Collection Dubai The Palm and Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel, effective 1st August 2025.
Together, the two properties comprise 1,097 keys, forming a significant presence for Minor Hotels on Palm Jumeirah. In his new role, Ahmad will oversee both hotels’ operations and strategic direction, while also leading Dukes The Palm through an upcoming repositioning.
Ahmad brings with him over 20 years of international hospitality experience, with a strong background in commercial strategy, luxury hotel management and operational leadership across the Middle East region.
Throughout his distinguished career, Ahmad has held senior leadership roles with some of the world’s most renowned hotel brands, including IHG Hotels & Resorts, Barceló Hotel Group, Meliá Hotels International, Rotana Hotels, and Marriott International. Most recently, he served as General Manager of InterContinental Al Khobar, where he spearheaded the repositioning of the property as a leading luxury destination in Saudi Arabia.
Known for his expertise in driving revenue growth, creating sustainable commercial strategies, and managing large-scale hotel operations, Ahmad has consistently delivered exceptional results while developing high-performing teams and enhancing guest experiences. His proven ability to strengthen brand presence and lead operational excellence will be instrumental as Minor Hotels continues to prioritise its Middle East presence.
Both properties benefit from an enviable location on Palm West Beach, one of Dubai’s most vibrant lifestyle destinations. The prime location also places the hotels within easy reach of Dubai’s major attractions and just a 30-minute drive from Dubai International Airport, making the complex an ideal choice for both leisure and business travellers.
Guests will benefit from enhanced synergies across the two neighbouring properties, enjoying combined facilities, expanded dining options, and elevated lifestyle experiences. Both hotels boast direct access to the lively beachfront promenade featuring upscale restaurants, beach clubs, and entertainment venues.
“We are delighted to welcome Ahmad to Minor Hotels,” said David Todd, Vice President Operations, Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa. “His extensive experience, strategic mindset, and proven leadership make him ideally suited to guide these two distinguished Palm Jumeirah properties into their next chapter of success.”
In his new role, Ahmad will oversee the operations and strategic direction of NH Collection Dubai The Palm and Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel, ensuring both properties deliver on their promise of exceptional guest experiences, while achieving ambitious growth and performance targets.
Alongside Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort and Avani+ Palm View Dubai Hotel & Suites, Minor Hotels commands a combined total of 1,771 keys on Palm Jumeirah, affirming the group’s status as a key player in Dubai’s competitive hotel landscape.
