New Spa Menu at Anantara Desaru Coast Marries Indigenous Malay Therapies and Exclusive Body Care Line from Biologique Recherche

With domestic and international travel to Desaru Coast on the rise, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort and Villas is welcoming the summer season with the launch of a new spa menu on 1st June 2023, introducing guests to transformative treatments that draw on the healing wisdom and indigenous traditions of Malaysia. In addition to classic spa rituals, Anantara Spa has also launched specialist programmes for expectant and new mothers using Biologique Recherche products – the first spa in Desaru Coast to offer the brand’s exclusive body product range.

Alongside the best-selling Roots of Malaysia herbal oil massage where therapists use thumbs to deliver kneading strokes, the new menu features a number of other locally-inspired treatments. The Kopi Scrub and Boreh Spice combines a deliciously-smelling body polish with coffee followed by a nutmeg, clove and ginger wrap that helps to break down cellulite and warm up the body. For a truly unique experience, guests can try a full-body Bamboo Massage with warmed bamboo sticks incorporating stroking and rolling techniques to release muscular knots and tension. Another nature-inspired therapy is the antioxidant-rich Coconut and Mint Scrub made with fresh mint leaves to create a gentle, skin-resurfacing scrub.

Maintained in the menu is our ever-popular Spa Journey aptly named The Rise of Naupaka is a bespoke spa journey that consists of a hibiscus rose scrub, The Roots of Malaysia massage and traditional herbal bath to pamper yourself like royalty. Naupaka is the name of the plant that is also known as Sea Lettuce and commonly found in Desaru Coast. The story of Naupaka is a tale about two lovers separated by a vengeful god. Princess Naupaka plucked a flower from her hair and gave half to her lover. When the two parts are joined, it will look like a whole flower. Perfect treatment for couples to reconnect just like Naupaka.

If looking for wellness rituals that are Ayurvedic in nature, guests can try the new Himalayan Thermal Therapy where a vigorous full-body massage, a face massage with iced rose quartz gua sha, and a revitalising head massage are followed by a soothing ritual in which hand-carved salt stones are placed along the spine to remove negative energy. There is also the Chakra-Balancing Therapy during which chakra stones – selected based on the desired healing effects – are dipped in virgin coconut oil and used to gently massage the body to rebalance, promote positivity and improve self-awareness. Guests will also be guided with deep breathing techniques to relax before the start of the massage.

For mothers-to-be, the addition of the Biologique Recherche Future Maman Massage to the menu means pregnancy tension and pain can be effectively and safely released. ‘Tungku’ is a traditional technique that protects the uterus by placing a heated herbal ball on the stomach in the Traditional Postnatum while Biologique Recherche Body Sculpting treatment is applied to sculpt the sagging uneven skin tone at arms, stomach and thigh areas. Biologique Recherche are known for their high-quality premium skincare from France.

With the launch of this new menu, we aspire to take Anantara Spa to new heights with the inclusion of Wellness Journeys. Choose between the one- or three-day Wellness programs that are designed to help you be rejuvenated. The Wellness Journeys consists of a variety of exercise sessions, body scrub, body massage and Wellness set meals. Raising the bar for experiences are also the collaboration with Wellness Practitioners who are invited every quarter to share their expertise in areas such as singing bowl, Reiki healing and Thai warrior massage.

Hidden out of sight in a handsome standalone building that mirrors the traditional Malay house with its wood panelling, Anantara Spa is a temple of serenity where everyone – from solo travellers to couples and families with kids – are welcome to recharge amid lush gardens surrounded by water.

Here, every spa journey starts and ends with a cup of hot or cold tea made with herbs like chrysanthemum, rose petals, butterfly pea and mint as well as local fruit ranging from longan to red dates. Each tea blend is carefully selected for its unique qualities. Before any spa session can begin, guests are treated to a refreshing foot bath to ensure their feet are scrubbed clean and their mind has slowed down and is receptive.
