Minor Hotels Appoints Jason Marques as General Manager of Tivoli Avenida Liberdade

Minor Hotels is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Marques as General Manager of Tivoli Avenida Liberdade, one of Lisbon’s most iconic luxury hotels, effective 1st September 2026.
Marques brings more than two decades of international hospitality experience to the role, with a career spanning luxury hotels and resorts across Europe, Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East. He joins Tivoli Avenida Liberdade following two years as General Manager of Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort.
In his new position, Jason Marques will lead the continued development of Tivoli Avenida Liberdade, strengthening its standing as one of the Portuguese capital’s landmark hotels while preserving the character and heritage that have defined the property for generations.
Opened in 1933 as the first Tivoli hotel, Tivoli Avenida Liberdade occupies a unique place in the history of Portuguese hospitality as the property where the Tivoli brand was born. Today, as a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel continues to embody the timeless elegance, exceptional service and distinctive character that have defined the brand for more than nine decades. Under Marques’ leadership, Tivoli Avenida Liberdade will continue to build on this legacy while identifying new opportunities for innovation, growth and an increasingly distinctive guest experience.

Marques began his hospitality career in 2003 at Pine Cliffs, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Resort in the Algarve, after completing a qualification in Sustainable Tourism at INUAF – Instituto Superior Dom Afonso III.
His international career began in Algeria, where he joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2012 as Front Office Manager at Le Méridien Oran Hotel & Convention Centre. He subsequently progressed to Director of Rooms & Green Belt before taking on the position of Director of Rooms at Sheraton Club des Pins Hotel & Resort.
In 2016, Marques relocated to the Seychelles to become Executive Assistant General Manager at Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove. Two years later, he moved to the Maldives as Resort Manager of Constance Halaveli Maldives. He returned to the Seychelles in 2020 to lead the opening of a new Marriott International resort, serving as both General Manager and Owner’s Representative.
Marques later joined Marriott International’s London headquarters as Senior Manager, Franchise Operations for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the operational performance of 116 hotels across Southern Europe. In January 2024, he joined Minor Hotels as General Manager of Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort.
Drawing on his extensive international experience, operational expertise and understanding of luxury hospitality, Marques will work closely with the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade team to further enhance the hotel’s guest offering and reinforce its reputation as an enduring symbol of Lisbon.
